I mounted the US Spec wipers on my Euros by making a simple L shaped bracket which mounts the motor in the same relative position on the euro light as on the US light, also it is necessary to drill a hole in the rim of the light housing for the motor shaft to pass through. ( just use the US Spec light as a guide and be careful drilling because you would be right next to the glass lens. it only took a couple of hours including the time to remove and replace the lights, engineer the solution and fabricate the brackets. Pretty simple job. Granted, a pair of euro wipers would look better, but this solution is fully functional and reversible. When I have an extra 700 bucks floating around, I may change to the euro wipers, in the meantime, these will do just fine.

Hey that looks cool.... I will try that too... right now I have a hard time getting the US wipers separated from the headlights ....
Do you have more pictures of this 'L' shaped bracket you mentioned that you made??

You really need to document this process. You will make a lot of friends!!
how much do ya'll think i could sell the us headlights for cause im gona get euro pretty soon and i know i could sell the one i have but how much would they go for??
I'm off on Tuesday, I'll pull a headlight and post some detail pictures and dimensions. As for removing the motor from the old headlight, the big nut you detailed in your first post should just unscrew from the threaded shaft and the small rubber boot just slides off the shaft and the motor should be free. if the nut does not loosen, it's possible that the shaft or nut is stripped. even if it is, the US Spec motors are always showing up on Ebay, dirt cheap.
Nice wagon! What year is it? 91, 92, 93?
We're debating keeping my wife's ...a 92 4matic....needs to have the 4matic resealed. Also, the AC went earlier this year and the blower is weak. You're giving me inspiration to get these things sorted and potentially get some Euro lights.
Where we live in the Northeast I remember having to pull off the highway one night in my VW Passat years ago following a storm. The sand/salt on the road was building up so much on my lights that I could barely see the road. I definitely could have used wipers that night!

thanks! its a 92 and luckily this one that I have is in tip top condition. in and out. its worth restoring and keeping this car.... for a couple of years from now this will be a classic. good luck!
Here is what I did to mount US spec wipers on my euro headlights.
Using the motor mounting pad on the original lights as a dimension guide I made an L shaped bracket out of 1/8"thick x 1 1/2" wide aluminum flat stock (I had it lying around from another project but I think it came from Home Depot). The bracket needs to be 40mm from the motor mounting end to the outside of the bend where it attaches to the headlight housing. the big hole that mounts the motor has to be centered 14mm from the end so that the stabilizing lug on the motor will properly engage the bracket. The base of the bracket can be as long or short as you want, just so it fits on the flat surface of the bottom of the light housing. drill two small holes in the bracket base to accommodate #8 machine screws that will mount the bracket to the headlight housing headlite 004.jpg
Using the filler panel or the holes in the filler panel gasket as a guide, drill a hole in the plastic rim of the headlight in the same relative position as it is on your old US Spec headlights, this is for the wiper shaft to pass through. Be careful because you will have to drill right up to the glass lens and too much stress could cause it to chip or crack. headlite 007.jpg
Now temporarily mount the mount the bracket to the motor and test fit to the headlight. The threaded end of the wiper shaft will need to extend 30mm out from the rubber gasket that it passes through. Also the angle of the bracket will need to be checked and adjusted so that it's base will lie flat against the headlight housing. It was necessary to shave a small amount of the factory wiper mounting pad off of the flat bottom of the light housing, this was easily accomplished with a single edge razor blade window paint scraper. Once the position for the bracket is determined, mark it's mounting position and remove the motor.
Drill holes in the headlight housing in the correct position to match the mounting holes in the base of the bracket and attach bracket to the headlight housing with two #8 machine screws and nuts.
Be careful not to damage any internal components of the headlight when drilling. headlite 008.jpg
Mount the motor to the bracket and verify the alignment of the motor and bracket to the headlight, make sure everything is tight and reinstall the headlight on the car making sure to reconnect the wiper wiring harness and the washer hose. headlite 001.jpg
Reattach and adjust the wiper arm after the headlight and filler panel are back in place. PICT0114.JPG
This procedure worked with Bosch lights, other brands may require some modification
