Low speed wobble & high speed vibration

Hey all,

I read elsewhere about people having wobble when they are driving low speed. This is apparently related to the steering damper and drag link.

Now, would this also relate to high speed wobble too? At about 120km/h the wheel vibrates badly and so does the steering wheel.

Finally is this an expensive thing to fix?

I would remove one side of the damper and pull it through the range of travel . There are dead spots of no resistance on worn units.

Low - uneven tire pressure ( right 22 left 29 ) combined with out of balance tires can add to the problem.

Well one tyre was flat so I thought it was that. I checked all tyres and its still there. Its very weird, when im driving at low speeds like say 30km/h, the car feels like a wheel is going to fall off. Then at high speeds it vibrates pretty bad. Only started doign this 3 days ago.

Depending on the type of wheel the balance weight could come off or be knocked off. Some alloy rims use "stick on weights (double sided tape) ,look around the inner part of the rim for clean spots where a weight may have recently departed from .

Every steer damper that has done bad for me , It had one peak in vibration speed . It wasn't bad all the time or in a turn. A strong steering wheel shake would indicate a damper failure

Maybe take your car in for a tire rotation at a local tire shop , once on the jacks any defect in the tires tread or weighs would be easy to find.

A damper was about $20- 50 USD easy to change , if done yourself . Link

90% of vibrations can be traced to the tires. I'd start there.

The vibration can be attributed to a tyre, however the wobble cannot.
