I'm thinking of jacking my driver's seat up so high that my head sticks out of the sunroof as I'm driving down the street. I would also like to replace my hood emblem with a horse's head. I would also like to have a couple reigns lead from the horse's neck to the sunroof...you know.. to make it look like I'm riding a horse. Also, I would like to... paint the horse's head black and give it chrome trim. I think all of my modifications would look elegant yet understated, and very cool to the lady folk a my high school. Should I make these MODS or just stick to just leaving my car stock?
People come to this forum for all sorts of reasons. Some come for technical reasons, some for DIY help and many for cosmetic and performance mods to our cars. One of the things that make this forum work so well is that most of the people respect the interests of the other forum participants.
In the Performance modifications category there are folks who are doing some very good technical work, good retrofitting and complex engine swaps. They range in age from 18 to 60.
In the Appearance and Suspension mods threads that abound, there are people doing complete AMG refits, custom interiors that are very professional, exterior mods that mimic the era of our cars and restorations and restomods of all kinds. Again the ages run from high school to in the 60s. I personally run a restoration and performance shop, am in my fifties and enjoy helping those younger do what is fun for them. The key is “fun for them”.
My point of this post is that everyone here has an opportunity to respect the enthusiasm of the other members of the forum. Whether it is to keep a car bone stock or slammed, bagged and squeezed.
Please take the opportunity to share in that respect.
Oh cut it out. If I didn't like Mercs I wouldn't be posting. I don't mean to offend anyone, but I can't help it! I really do want my seat jacked up to high heaven so that everyone can see me! I want an E320C (the chariot version of the w124).
By the way, all idiocy aside, I just test drove a 95 e320. It was bloody amazing! It was quiet, smooth, and everything - and I mean everything - worked like it was NEW! These cars are so well built. I'd say it's even better built than the GS400 I just sold. I'm planning on getting two of these cars now: A 94-95 e420 sedan and a 94-95 e320 Station wagon. Now tell me how to jack my seats up.

Humor is very well accepted here, we just sometimes want to understand that it is humor and not trolling.
And, regarding the seats, we have found it is actually easier to lower the floor and suspend the seats with skyhooks at the same level. That way you get that jacked up feel and can still see the dash panel.
How unreliable would a 500e/e500 be compared to an e320 or e420? and how does an e300d compare to the rest? Diesels are kind of expensive compared to the rest now too, what's the scuttlebud there?

When you say a horses head, are you referring to the GodFather style or something a bit smaller?
As to the seat jacking, keep in mind you will need to keep control of the vehicle. This would mean figuring out the steering and accelerator/brake controls from your new elevated height. If you are trying to impress hte chicks, smashing into a tree with your Mercedes Equus will not do the trick.
Buy biothane reins, they are easier to maintain than the leather ones.
