i ordered what i thought was the switch that tells the cold start valve to "fire". the part # is 006 545 45 24. it is green with 3 pins. at first i thought the switch did not exist on my 300e. however, after looking at some drawings i see that it is located under the intake in the block. can anyone tell me if this is what i needed to ensure a good switch for the cold start? if not for cold start signal, what is it for?
I'm not sure, but I think that's the sensor for the A/C. The engine temp sensor is the green one with two pins, at the back end of the cylinder head. Can you post a picture of the sensor?
By the way, did you replaced the injectors this week-end or not?
got the injectors, but did not think to order the seals. big dummy... i will order those asap. i have always thought that the cold start sensor was at the back of the head. has 2 "sockets". i hope i am wrong. otherwise, i have a switch i do not need.
may go ahead and install on wifes 260e. at least her ac works. mine is inop.
i did test out the cold start valve in a "redneck" way this evening.
i ran 2 jumper wires from batt. just to check operation. on both cars the switch itself is good. does anyone out there think that bad injectors could cause bad hot start? i would think it would. leaking down/ flooding the cylinder. ideas??
for those tracking this post. new injectors makes no difference in bad hot start issue. i don't even feel any more power/acceleration. SOMETHING is flooding this engine while at rest. the drama continues...
