Okay I'm a bit late to the party -- but I have some answers.
I was looking for a parchment colored roller blind cover thingy for my 94 wagon. Dealership said $1500, and there's 3 in a warehouse in Germany. I just got one off ebay that came with all the hardware, but I don't know exactly where to PUT the hardware. I'm trying to find a picture of a back seat from the rear, with the brackets visible.
Alex I was looking at that one too. My interior is gray so would of worked out nice but when I asked seller if ALL mounting hardware was included I did not get a reply.
I figured $240 inc shipping was high if I then had to go to the dealer to replace missing parts.
If it does not work out for you and hardware is all there, let me know.
Will do Mark. I will continue to look for a blue one and maybe down the line i will sell you the grey. I recall looking into the hardware at the dealer and it's not expensive. A new blind will run you $1200 however.
It looks like the only required hardware would be the weird mounting attachment to hook it to the seat back. Everything else could be some sort of generic hook or tie-down. It wouldn't be as pretty, but would work fine.
I'm hoping to come across some real good pictures of a seatback showing where the mounts go. I'm scared to slice up my seatback!
Anyone know if I pull it apart if I'll find some markings where it should be cut? (kind of like the back of the door panels show where a window crank would go if my car would have been a Tehran taxi instead of a US-spec wagon?
I stumbled into an 88, navy blue with palomino interior, that has the roller blind setup. There are some fairly substantial brackets that screw into the roof area above the rear seat backrest. I'm thinking of buying the car ans parting it out since it's pretty bashed up and had like 225k miles. I'll see if I can get some good pics. I've been haggling with the seller; it's on his used a car lot. No one would want to drive this car -- it's ugly.
Here's one photo I found. Note the blocks on the seat back. I also confirmed that my blind will come with the mounting hardware. Good news as the hardware is more expensive than I recalled.
Will do -- and you do the same, if you get it done before I do.
I wonder if I can get a junkyard seatback to use as a template. It could be in the absolute worst condition and it'd still work for my purposes.
Perhaps the gentleman considering the thrashed '88 would send the seatback around when he's done with it?
