My understanding is the SPORT shock [which is mainly used on the Sportline, 500E and any lowered 124 has had a bit of QC problem but their main products are very good. I have them on all our cars/trucks and recommend them to everyone. Mine is the only one I have personally seen that has failed, although as I previously posted, I have seen others noted. I have been using Bilisteins for over 35 years.

We run them on track cars, which get very hard treatment with no problems at all.

If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about answers.

Found the problem with the grumbling noise. I had the catalytic converter replaced a few months ago and it seems it or part of the the exhaust was placed against the underside of the car so that it touched it, when it vibrated against the car it was amplified inside. Quick and inexpensive fix, and now much more pleasurable to drive.

Got a package in for Bilstein today with a new right front shock. Note just said that the original had a failure and that I got a new one. They did not specify the failure. Put it on and the noise problem was gone.
