Like greasy_benz said - all you have to do is replace the hood+grill and either the whole headlights or just the headlight lenses (if you have euro lights all you need is new lenses)
greasy_benz - The car does look lovely! Yep - door shuts are very important, otherwise the whole spray job looks terrible whenever you open the door!
Wow thanks for the replies everyone... I am new here & I am beginning to learn more about some the potentially expen$$$ive issues with Used MB's & am amazed at how cheap they can be on Ebay etc... I am a diesel guy with several Diesel Land Cruisers (please forgive me ) and I have always admired the 300D's for their durabilty & have known several people that swear buy them... That is why I am considering purchasing one. Here in Vancouver they range form $1,000 to $8,000 for an 1980 to 1985 depending on history, owners, maintenance, rust, & milage etc... I have not seen any newer than 1985 for some reason. Assuming N/A here after that... I realize that buying a "Salvage" vehicle is NOT the right thing to do... But this one was VERY NICE, clean & tight. As the story goes, the seller is a guy that buys & sells high end vehicles for over 25 yrs, he bought it 3 years ago for $2,900 CDN/US? with LR fender damage & faulty LR control arm. He claims that that is why it was salvage titile. It has been his company/families car. It was a Las Vegas sherrifs car prior to that. Rust free & VERY clean in & out. Dash, steering wheel, seats, carpets, peddles, shifter, door handles, bumpers, lights, lens, paint, trunk, spare etc all is mint. Starts, sounds, drives & handles excellent. Seat controls, A/C, stereo etc all seem to work. S/R & LF window seems to not wanna travel nicely = binding? Seller has just done all fluids, filters, tranny flush, injectors, tires etc. He swears it is 100% A OK... & is willing to let me copy all his paper work on the car, have it inspected & will give me 1 yr warranty. I realize now that it dose sound & look too good to be true, yet too expensive compared to what can be had in the US. But form what I have seen around here in the Buy & sell for the last few years, it is a realistic price. But I have now lost the lure of the bling due to all the unknowns & uncertainty so will let this one slide & keep looking... Sssssoo what do ya all say about a 190E from Japan... ??? Or should I be looking for a 15 year old 300D out of Washington State? I am looking for a reliable "comuter car" to suppliment my growing herd of modified offroad Crusiers
