The temps around here are supposed to drop to between 5 below zero and 5 above zero over the next couple days. Recently, the temps have been between 10-20 degrees and my 94 E420 has started fine in the morning. The deisel gets the garage to stay plugged in, so the 420 is left out in the elements. I drive this car daily, so its not like it will be sitting for days and days without running in this cold. Should I be worried about starting the car in these low temps? I mean, its only about 10-15 degrees colder than it has been.
If the car is in top shape I wouldn't be worried. Automakers test their components and assemblies for operation down to -40° to qualify their designs for production.

My old 260E with close to 400K on the clock slept outside in a minus 30deg temperature last week.
I only had to show it the remote starter control for about 3 seconds before she woke up.
I you have problems at minus 5, something's wrong with the car.
A few years ago,I saw a minus 40something.....again, no problem.
