Hey there you all! Thanks for commenting!
--> Rickjack:
Equipmentwise i think it's really got everything one could want, except for sunroof and electric seats.
Leather, ASD, Electric windows/mirrors, ABS, Autodipping RW mirror, GSM-phone in armrest, Ortopedic seats, ECC, Cruise control, IR-alarm with green/red indicating diod lights on door etc.
Everything just feels extremely well built all the way to the smallest detail.
And when you drive it, it feels like driving a tank, it's amazing directional stability regardless of speed. Power reservoir at all speeds. Comfort, handling.
I really think it beats new cars in most areas.
Compared to a 1992 Audi S4 Quattro (2.2T) i had that was the VAG-corporations flagship in the early 90's, that one was not as nice as the MB to drive. It rolled heavy when cornering, weak power on low revs before the turbo spooled up, harsh seats that felt miles away from the MB:s seats.
More problems with that car too, ignition-pipes in ceramic material gave in wich made it misfire, camberlinks, Info-center warning for problems that didn't exist, awful brakes (called UFO-breaks with inner mounted flouting calipers) that faded instantly, steer gearing mounted in inner wheel houses that flexed when steering made it instable and "tracking around" when road was not flat, etc. etc.
Generally i think the W124 in public terms is an underestimated car.
Found a real interesting clip on Youtube about the W124 with German languange.
A lot of great footage from the 80's.
