Can anybody out there offer me some good advice on how to solve my problem. Just sometimes (say 1 in 10 or so occasions), when I lock my car (1992 - 200E), all of the windows wind down about 2.5cm (1 inch). I then have to open the car and push each button to get them up again.
Any ideas what could be causing this??
Thats a feature that is offered on some 124, if you hold the key in the lock position for more than 3 seconds the windows will all wind down, I'm not sure if there is a way to disable that, but why would you I think it's an awsome feature. Just lock the car quickly and dont hold the key in the lock position long.

On my 90 300CE, if you have windows/sunroof open when you exit the car, by holding the key in the lock position, all open items will motor closed. When I return to the car and hold the key in the open position, all the windows begin to roll down.

You should take the key out and then put it back in then turn and hold to see if they all go back up.
the feature you refer to is called "The Magic", albeit not an official name, it is the name my sister and I gave it years ago. It is an awesome feature, its simple and useful, which is what makes German cars better then the rest.
Is this one of the features they dropped to simplify the 94-95 models? I tried this on my '95 E420 and it doesn't seem to work the way you all are describing - nothing happens.
