Is this one of the features they dropped to simplify the 94-95 models? I tried this on my '95 E420 and it doesn't seem to work the way you all are describing - nothing happens.
Aha! Position 3! I tried it by turning the key all the way as usual. I'll try it again today.
no no no -- position 3 is as far as it'll go on your doors. position 4 is for the trunk lock only...
this may have been part of an options package on '92-'93 models, but i believe it was standard by '94. in any case, the windows winding DOWN when you lock the doors isn't a "feature" -- it's a bug. benzisgreat, do you have any other electrical gremlins?

Both my cars, 1994 and 1995 have that feature. Hold when locking and it closes everything, hold when opening and everything opens.
Also had a 1989 300E and a 1999 c230 that did the same.
WOW - Thanks for all the info.
Yes, it works like all of you say it does. I have had the car for some 3 years now and did not even know about the feature.
Its a great idea when the car has been standing in the sun and you want to let all of the hot air out. I probably will hardly ever use the window up feature on locking, as I always drive with the aircon on and windows closed (obviously)
Thanks

I respect your taste for driving with the aircon on. In my case however, I enjoy the feeling of air hitting my face every now and then. :-))
