Automatic transmissions, 722.3 vs. 722.5, what are the differences?

I know these two transmissions were both used behind the 3.0L M103 engine. And there's an obvious difference in the filters and pan gaskets. But what are the significant design differences between the two units? Are the ratios the same? Are there any differences in strength or long term reliability between the two?

Also, how difficult is it to install a 722.3 unit in a car that came from the factory with a 722.5? Or vice versa? Will everything else fit? (speedo cable, shifter rod, control cable, cooler lines, drive shaft, etc.) Or will it be necessary to swap other pieces with the transmissions?

Here's why I'm asking. I have one of each transmission, and I have two W124 300E's. The usage and goals for each car are very different. Edwina is a daily driver and long distance cruiser. She has very few modifications and will remain basically stock. Eva is in development for the "boy racer" car, with twin turbos being fitted to the engine and plans for a 11.xx second quarter mile run and possibly some other racing types of activities in her future. For the moment, she'll be staying with an automatic transmission, though.

Eva's transmission (a 722.3 unit) will definitely need a rebuild and some upgrades to handle the planned power and torque from her highly modified engine. Edwina's transmission (a 722.5 unit) is acting strange lately, and might also need a rebuild due to wear (292,000 miles and counting) and the other current issues.

Since I have Eva's transmission (722.3) out right now, it would be fairly easy to rebuild that unit and install it in Edwina and use Ediwna's 722.5 unit in Eva after a performance rebuild and upgrade. If both units are virtually identical, I'd probably just go that route as the easiest path. But if there are features of the 722.3 that make it better suited to Eva's planned modifications, or features of the 722.5 that make it better for Edwina's planned usage, I could keep them where they are now and possibly get another 722.5 to rebuild for Edwina. Or maybe temporarily install Eva's 722.3 in Edwina while I rebuild the 722.5 to be reinstalled.

Any advice and information on these two transmissions would be appreciated.
