and the funny thing is... it's only on the driver side..... the dealer calls is a vibration absorber, and it's about $500.00. Our parts clerk says he's never sold one, and we sure as hell have never replaced one. hmmmmmmm?
So then being in the business, what would you advise. Would you remove it and put a strut bar on? The guys on mercedeshop all have said to leave it. One guy even suggested to buy a honda instead.
well I wouldnt go that far...... tell you what... I'll ask around. Going up to the dealer today..... and just so I have it str8.... you want to install a stabilizer? right
did you buy the set already? from where? was it specific for the vert
? usually parts houses will have an inhouse tech support to help with fittment? I still have not gone up to the dealer... I'll probably have to wait till Monday when some of our more knowledgeable tech buddies are back to work. As you've probably already found out, these days, even the dealer doesn't know these cars too well. they pushed out all the old timers (who actually knew Mercedes') and filled the bays with kids from the Jeep dealer down the street... ha ha We still have a few good guys out there... I hope to see someone Monday. Hang in there.... for what its worth... I would guess that the kit you have shown will work fine and not cause you any problems.... but I will ask for you.... Brian

Thanks for you help Brian.
I haven't bought any of the parts yet. They are all items I have been finding on the various forums. And they are not convertible specific. The strut bar is an item a couple of members have installed on their cars.
The strut plates are items which a few members of the 500Ecstasy forums have installed on various w124's and w201's. All have had nothing but praise for the plates.
I've been trying to get feedback on the parts being that they are going on a convertible and things are not no straight forward when it comes to it.
I've also been finding that there are a lot of MB purest's and don't like seeing these kind of things done, so in turn there's been more "leave it alone comments" then "go for it"
I have found the dealer to be not to helpful when it comes to customizing other than my contact in parts. But to ask one of the tech's about doing something or their opinion hasn't resulted in anything good.
Regards,
Joe
The Wiecher Sport front strut bar is NLA - the only way you'll be able to get one these days is through a owner whos getting rid of his own.
As for the Adjustable Camber Plate, those are custom and cost $500 for a set which is also NLA since I know who made them and who they were sold to.
I got a reply from the distributor and they said "The source company has been advised by their insurance carrier not to export to the USA, due to our legal system. So I won’t be getting any more. Sorry."
If I have to I'll have a relative in Europe get one for me.
As for the Camber Plate. The post today said that next production run will be available in January.
I've driven a 190E with those Camber plates and to be honest I really don't like how they ride.
My friends set up who doesnt have camber plates installed handles much better than the 190E we borrowed which had the adjustable camber plates installed.
