I washed the engine on my 94 E420. Now it misses terribly its been doing this for a week now? I haven't driven it as it is a third car but I have let it warm up . I thought about blowing the distributors out but their hard to get to. I KNOW this cars has a miss because it stinks of rotten eggs from the tail pipe.
Yep, sound like you soaked the distributors. Better to take the caps off and dry things out than let the water start the oxidation process and allow carbon arcs to form on the cap (if that hasn't happened already). Bite the bullet and do it before things get expensive.
Ok I pulled both distributors No water and no corrosion. I'm thinking maybe I soaked the 1100 dollar harness at the back of the engine. Some history on this, the car has been in for this problem once before. The official MB dealer suggested I do a cap rotor and plugs $1200 I forked it over but 2 months later this problem came back. So im thinking this cars gonna bite me real hard again. I would not keep this car it has 100,000 miles but it was owned by a fanatic. I mean I have maintenance records that go back to day one its a one owner car. It recently had the whole front re sprayed ( rock chipped) and new headlights installed. The guy payed $3500 for suspension work including Eibach springs, lowered sway bars, koni adjustables, ploy bushings ect. I know its insane to spend this kind of money when I could have a E500 for the same money.
OK... I hope I am not understanding you correctly... 1200.00 for cap/rotor and plugs?!?!?! I just paid 270.00 for all that PLUS new wires at my MB Indy shop!!!
Please tell me that included a new harness... its not very clear how you wrote it.

I had this happen on my 400E, what happens is that water gets into the sparkplug recesses, So you should also take out all of the spark plug wires, blow out the area with compressed air, and then make sure there is no corrosion on the plug wires leads that attach to the plugs and make sure the plugs are not corroded, maybe use some dielectric grease on the contact points
REMEMBER!!! simple things first! This is what ends up costing so many benz owners unecessary amounts of money is because mechanics go for the most complex and expensive fixes first. !!!
