Car is in the garage right now, just spent half an hour going through 20 pages of search in the forum.
Went out to start the car for the first time today. Turned the key and everything lights up (as it should). Full electrical power, radio works, interior lights work, everything works. The only thing is that NOTHING is happening when pushing the key to the limit, in other words, turning it on. No crank, no sputter, no nothing.
Checked the fuse box, all looks good. Read about the OVP.. is that something that could be happening here? Like I mentioned, everything works, radio, lights, battery is fine.
It did this yesterday morning, but I thought nothing of it. Turned the key, and nothing happened. Thought "that's strange", then took the key out, put it back in, turned, and then it started right up. Drove around yesterday fine, starting and stopping, and now this.
I'm trying to get to my polling place so I can vote! Help! ;^)
not sure.... everything is powering on, just no kicking over, no choking, no nothing.
update.... it's not the starter, definitely. I remembered reading in the 20+ pages about a guy putting it in neutral and starting it that way.
tried to start it the normal way, made sure there was no steering wheel lock or anything, and the same thing--- power to everything, but no ignition. put the car in neutral, and it started right up! off to vote, but lets talk about this and figure what the issue is. came back in from the garage to post this.
Or if you have an aftermarket alarm, sometime's if you lock the car with the remote and unlock it with the key, it wont start as a security feature incase someone was to steal the car.

It can be the ignition switch faulty. I changed mine about six months ago. You can check it by supplying current directly to the solenoid switch at the starter.
so I had no problems starting the car regularly on tuesday or yesterday. Can it be the starter? I can start it in neutral, but I haven't had to since my election day incident.
sergio & revener.....
What does the neutral saftey switch do? And if starting it IN neutral worked why does it need to be replaced. Don't quite understand.
vili1892...
No aftermarket alarm or starter kill of any kind.
bschan...
"by applying current to the solenoid switch at the starter" I've got the voltage reader... how exactly do I do that|?
