You don't have to purchase MB parts to get the quality. But OEM which is exactly the same. Names like Lemfoerder, Febi, Boge, Sachs, Bilstein, etc are all acceptable. For struts I would go with Bilstein.

I would also recommend Bilstein for the struts. The comforts are good. When I did Edwina's struts, I went with the Heavy Duty ones. Slightly firmer than the Bilsten Comforts, but not too harsh IMO. With the stock wheels and stock size tires, they are fine. If you're going with "upgraded" wheels (larger diameter, heavier) and tires (lower profile, heavier, ridiculous high speed rating), then the HD's might be a bit more annoying.

And neither the HD nor the comforts are really recommended if you lower the thing. For lowered applications, go with the Bilstein Sports, but be prepared for a very bumpy, harsh ride.

I used Febi mounts and Lemforder ball joints and control arm bushings when I did mine. No problems with OEM parts as far as my experience. I'd avoid the cheaper, 3rd world imports, though.

Hey, never thanked everybody for all the help. Finally did the struts about 2 weeks ago. A lift and a jackstand was all I needed. Felt so good to finish that job. Thanks again and hope yall have a good holiday season. Aloha...
