A friend asked me to help change the fog lights on a 1993 400E. I couldn't figure out how to remove the bulb cover, and the manual wasn't helpful. Does anyone have instructions or a diagram?
Eliot, thanks so much for those pictures -- but, unfortunately, you have a '94 and the car I'm trying to work on is a '93. They have different headlight assemblies, so the back of the lights on my friend's 400E isn't like the ones you've posted above...
Is there anyone out there with a first-gen w124 who can help out???

doesn't the fog light have it's own separate cover?

from the back, there is no cover. once i remove the plastic air scoops, the back of the headlight assembly is exposed. for the main headlight, it's a simple plastic clip -- you press the sides of the clip together, and the bulb socket slides out; then you just remove the old bulb, pop in the new one, clip everything back into place, and you're done.
but for the foglight, there's no corresponding plastic clip -- it's a different fastener, and i've tried pulling it, pushing it, whatever, and it didn't budge. i wish i had pictures, but the car isn't mine so i can't just run downstairs with my camera...
this should definitely be a DIY thing; i'm surprised the manual doesn't really cover it...
