The mixture adjustment should have been tamper poof for this reason. Take the car to a Mercedes mechanic and have it adjusted before you have to spend real money.
Sorry for the real advice, but other than swapping a couple parts you should not have played with the mixture. If the mixture is adjusted improperly it will cause hard starting, especially cold starts.
You can check the fuse in the overvoltage relay located behind the battery beside the engine control and abs control units.
Good luck, but still have the mixture corrected.

Rich, you sound like you have a burr in your saddle... relax, and read my original post: the mixture screw was screwed with (pardon the pun) prior to my purchasing the car.... I've ALWAYS worked on my own cars whenever possible, and internet forums such as this have proven invaluable (learning to sort through the BS is another skillful art...). I am not afraid to learn somthing new, and am happy to have learned how to use the Duty Cycle feature of a multi meter...

C180 manual, petrol 110K giging me same grief

Hi there - just joined. Have a C180 salon, manual, petrol, 1993 model. All well till now. Hoping that you guys can help me out. I postthe issue here as well as in the vehicle section.

Just had car service ( new plugs, filters,oil...), ball joints changex2; 4 new tyres, MOT passed; however when starting the car in the morinings it would just turn and fire and ll Ok. Now it turns but does not fire, have to press the accelerator pedal for it to fire aand then it spluters and mis fires, finally warms up for me to move in first gear but with very little to no power. After about 3 mins the car warms up and all is OK - power back, no misfiring or splutering; however not as smoth as before but driveable.

Have checket the temp gauage sensro read 5K ohms cold and 20Ohms when hot.

I've read that it could be a vacuum leak or the throttle body? any ideas. Ervine, let me know what it was for yours if you've fixed it.

You live in LA, thus cold start injector won't activate yet in your morning. I trust, you have a duel coolant temperature elements. Its a round 4 pin connector on top of the block. You pull out the Stainless lock ring, pull out the connector, rotate it 90degree, re pulg & try. This 2 TE are identicle , 1 for CFI computer, other for spark ignition.
