I'm 24 and I live down in Costa Rica. I guess I grew up around nice cars and I used to work for a restoration company in Victoria, working on Gullwings and other such vehicles. I got to drive several Mercedes and I quite enjoyed not only the comfort but the quality they were made of. For some reason whenever I get in a benz it just feels like your getting in a piece of art. I guess I just love the car, the brand and having the luxury for a great price are all great.
Before this I had motorcycles and a Volkswagon Cabriolet (im in costa rica the convertable was nice). The problem was that the VW on the road conditions down here was practically falling apart. It sounds like a tin can on a vibrator. So I sold my VW for good money and paid $1500 more for my benz. I have sunk lots of money into it because yeah it's an older car but it really is solid as a rock and the safety factor was part of the reason.
I do lots of different things but mainly i'm a partner in a internet marketing related company.

I frist fell in love with this model when it frist came out in the US. I love the classical design. The fact that it is an older model and can still turns heads is quite amazing for a sedan. I driven all MB models from the 80's and early 90's and I can say that the W124 is the most pratical for a guy that is almost reaching his 30's. Due to issues with space I sold mine. But I still miss it.

i was an apprentice motor mechanic at the mercedes benz agent in zimbabwe. mercedes used to send people out a few times a year to teach us stuff about their cars, recent innovations and so on.
i was thouroughly impressed by the level of engineering that went into all benz cars, not just engineering a part but looking beyond. some serious thought went into them. i compared certain parts to other cars, certain components to other cars,, noticed how mercedes where designed holistically, instead of as parts bin specials, even though they would use the same parts on different chassis'.
my fave car is a BMW 2002. its "just right" with not too much power, braking, handling, etc but just enough of each. its very "balanced" that way and doesnt feel like it needs more anything. its light and nimble and very very responsive. thats how i like my cars to be.
but im getting to the stage where a bigger car is necessary, and the 124 fits the bill perfectly. its a bigger version of the 2002 without the handling. but it has other things in spades that even new BMWs dont have.
im a future engineer, future world traveller.

I am 50ish ,feel like 20 , I like the classic lines as well with the vertical grill and emblem.
I maintain aircraft , so any problem I just smile and enjoy the repair . I am up at 4am I have a weekly over 100 mph section on my way to work .
It would kill me to pay for Benz maintenance on a 12yr old car at a garage. The basic car is fine ,the electrical seems to cause the most problems.

IM 24 & fell in love with the unique design of the w124 when I was 12, got my first w124 when I was 15. Have had 3 different w124's since then. IM a x-ray/radiology tech. IM also a certified composite tech & worked for race company as the head composite tech in charge at the age of 21, dealing with; Ferrari's, Porsche, Viper, Saleen S7, Morgan Aero 8's, F2000, Mclearen M12's, formula Fords, etc.. I also do custom paint work for fun. Most of what I learned was all because of my w124 400e that went through a massive upgrade. During the process of trying to do all this, I realized that I couldn't afford what I wanted. So I hit the schools. During school I was offered a job (out of 54 students ) to work for this composite shop, & now im starting my own business (www.SoCalCarbon.com). Its amazing what a simple passion for a car can do to a person.
I'm an architect and an engineer, though most of my time this year has been in architecture. I do appreciate good design, value and durability. But most of all I love ragtops. With 3 kids, I need at least a 4-seater. There aren't many choices in the marketplace that have a decent-sized rear seat. The only one with as much room as my Benz is the Chrysler Sebring. I had one of those for 6 years--not a great car: "value-engineered" to go 100K miles and then fall to pieces. The Benz feels like it will go much further with reasonable maintenance and repair.
A close friend lost her kid brother and this 1990 300E was left to her. She did not really want it but did not want "just anybody" to have it. I was interested in it, very nice looking car, and she made an offer I couldn't refuse. So many people had told me how terribly expensive upkeep is on a MB.....bull$hit. Just do things right and enjoy the ride!
I am a machinist, 30+ years, and enjoy bringing the benz up to snuff....it handles like a go kart!
I'm a 42 year old electrical engineer. I bought the W124 because I have 2 young children and safety was and is at the top of my list. I owned a W202 before and always loved the W124 look. Also have a W163 but take the W124 on all weekend trips (better gas mileage). If I hit the lottery tomorrow I would still keep my W124. My goal is to see how many miles I can get from this baby. Currently have 176K miles and many, many more to go.
