Ok ill try this question again. Does anyone know where i can find a radio wiring harness, or wiring diagram for a 1993 400e benz. Ive searched for awhile and want to put my pioneer head unit in. If not can answer those two questions, can someone please inform me what are some of the main colors on my car radio. ie. positive, ground constant power. Your help is truly needed, thank you.
ok seriously... was just trying to help... have you contacted crutchfield? You may just have to break down and get a service manual with an electrical schematic and cut your wires.
Forget Crutchfield... I looked at that stuff before (as well as just now) and it looks like its from 1972. You want to check out eBay, and this is the guy that I've seen who has what you're looking for. Just go to the site and put 250071285907 in the search box.
Just remember the whole system is in stereo grounded to the frame not to the radio, and youll have to bypass the ceter fader if you want to use the new radio's fader. Also you have external amplifiers youll have to bypass (might as well run new speaker wire IMO). I left mine stock just because. Crutch has alot of stuff and info for the crazy radio wiring for the MB.
To do this right, you need to rewire your front/rear speakers. To determine +12, ground and switched 12 volt, you need a VOM. On the older Becker equipted MB's, the tuner was in the trunk, so you won't find a antenna wire in the dash, so you would need to run one from the dash to the rear (where the antenna is). Its allot of work to put a head into a older MB.
If your not too particular about the radio, you can take a 12" piece of 18 awg wire and stick the bare end of it into the antenna socker of your new head unit, this will act like a antenna and provide reception, probably not as good as the acutal antenna though.
