A client just left who owns a 1995 320E (is that right, or is it a 320CE?) Cabriolet coupe w/50K miles...
She is moving soon to the city (NYC) and is selling her house, and 2 cars.
She mentioned KBB...I am willing to pay well above KBB...and she is an old friend and owes me favors...so I think I will get first shot in about 5 months.
It looks mint, anything I should be aware of regarding the convertible top itself?
I will sell my 380SL if I buy this 320 convertible.
As mentioned in many other threads, just check that old harness, I'm not sure at the maialage how it would be, ask her if she replaced it. I'm guessing that would be your main concern for this car.

In the world of roads, there are those who travel and those who own it. The choice is yours.
The car you're considering is an E320, made in 1994 and 1995 for the US market. Some 1996 models were sold overseas. They could be leftover 1995s. The 300CE Cabriolet, which is identical to the E320 version except for the hood and grille, was only made in 1993.
I like my 300CE a lot. The only other owner I know around here is the mother of a friend of mine, who bought her 1995 E320 Cabriolet new and still drives it every day.
The KBB values are useless. The price depends entirely on the condition of the car and its history/records. Some magazines have written that these cars may become collectors items, in which case depreciation will not be an issue as long as you keep it in prime condition.
A new outer layer for the top will run about $1,200 installed--maybe more if you have the dealer do it.
