I am a long time W124 owner, but have always had the straight 6. After hearing Smokie and other V8 owners rave about their rides, I have found a 1993 400E. It is very clean, with 94K miles. My main question is whether the 93 models have the degradeable wiring harness.
Can any of you address this issue, and any other things to look for?

Yep bc, I think I am addicted to 124's. After I drive my 98 E320 on weekends (you know, it is really the wife's car), I get back in my 124 on Mondays and hit the road and just love the feel.
Smokie, thanks for the advice about the wiring harness. It drove like a rocket today, smooth idle, great power curve, handled great on new tires. I think I can get it for about $5700. I think it will need brakes and rotors. It has always been in the SF Bay Area, so its clean with no rust. The service book was filled out by the original owner at MB dealer up to about 70,000 miles. The present owner has only had it a year, and put in a new radiator. Do you guys run synthetic oil in yours? If I can work out the deal, I will post pics of my fleet of 124's.
if you can get it for $5700, count yourself a lucky man. although i'm not quite as effusive as smokie, i completely share his enthusiasm for the 400E. it's one of the best cars ever, in my (biased, admittedly) opinion. good luck!
Hey Hoops! If this buggy is what you say it is I would not be sittin here writing on the forum about it! I would be writin a check for that puppy ASAP ![;)] Now lets see "effusive" HMMM not sure if I have seen that in my hillbillie lexicon??[:D][:D]Sure hope it's good.[:)]
