The 124 has always looked good to me. I even almost purchased a 300E 5 years ago.
V8 power is a must for me, but I am unwilling to part with the amount for a 500E - so that leaves the 400E and the E420.
Is there anything to worry about when the letter went to the front of the designation. The purist in me has always seen that as a departure from MB traditional mechanical quality - I apologize if I offend anyone.
What prices am I looking at for excellent low mile examples?
Can anyone lend me any advice about these cars? Only owned S's.
Thanks in advance,
T

There have been a bunch of posts on that subject! Both pro and con along with things to watch out for. Most folks here know my position on that model![;)][;)]

This is the greatest car when you have that smooth v8 power. Just know that most will need new wiring harnesses, cap's rotors. Look for lower mileage. My 400 was one of my favorite cars I have ever driven.
It's modernity took some getting used to, since I had moved up to this from my w108. The suspension is great and the road feel on the hwy will be just as smooth as an older S.

smokie's right -- take a look at prior posts. most of us 400E owners are like gushing parents of a newborn when someone asks us for our opinion. we love our cars!!![:D]
w108, I've never had problems with you, but you better not be dissing the 300E. As for the placing of the letter, that really shouldn't matter on the W124s as they were engineered well in the first place.
