Good job with the conversion! I just got a 400E and I'm psyched to start a new project. It's going to be my daily driver so I won't do anything crazy just wheels, tires and exhaust!
You will have lots of fun with your new ride for sure! I know I will too

Thanks for the props...
what I need? Well.... I (eventually) want to find a 5-speed manual gearbox from a 6 cyl. So if you have any part numbers... pass them on to me.
SO..... I installed my new H&R drop springs today. Just where I wanted it to sit! I couldn't wait for allignment on Monday, I got anxious, and drove her down to the end of the block and back and felt her shift gears for the first time. WOW. Thats all I gotta say!
Allignment Monday, and off to the muffler shop sometime next week.
I just got my H&R springs that are going to lower the car 1.3 inches! I got the wheels and tires waiting at home. I already mounted a black S600 grille and next week I'll mount the new euro-spec lights.
What did you do about the intakes for the engine? If I switch my headlights I'll lose the cold air sucked by the engine through the USA spec headlights.
Awesome work, thanks for the update. I considered that cost of buying another car(E420 or E500).
I've changed my mind on the whole Twin-T system, my engined went out on me Friday, now I'm in need of a new engine. It's the perfect opportuniy for me to "project" this car, it was suppoed to be my track car anyways. Not to ask the same questions but, give me an idea of how much did all of this has run you? I'm looking for the M104 AMG 3.6 if I can find one... otherwise, I don't know if I would be able to handle a V8 with all that power and today's gas prices...
I guess if I would have to spend money on a V8 I'd save up and just search for the 500E itself. Engine would probably cost as much as the car, to some un-suspecting widow or probate owner. I am happy with my E320... maybe I'll go for another one if I can find it.
The techincal data, I was looking for, was cooling, tranny, differential, brakes, power steering...intake electrical changes, ECU... etc... any major headaches?
Thanks!

IF THAT REAR WING WORKS, WE WILL HAVE TO REBUILD THE BMW TUNNEL... and so they did!!!
It was way worth it to me, and doing it again would be alot easier since we've already been there once.
I think all in all.... I think I'm hovering just below 10k for parts. Engine (complete with ALL accessories), transmission, steering gear, 1/2 of a 93 400E to recover all structural parts (crossmember and firewall panels) and COMPLETE engine and dash harness with computers, all apron mounted parts like EZL, ABS pump and lines, booster, etc, etc. A buttload of new parts like trans cooler lines, power steering and A/C lines, radiator and hoses, flex disc, brakes, battery and cables, lowering springs, new(ish) 17" AMG rims w/new Continental tires, and a bunch of other odds and ends I cant remember right now! And we haven't even calculated labor hours. WOW. I feel like a lunatic right now
I would only do this conversion to another coupe or convertable. When you can go buy a nice condition, low mile 400E for 5k, why would you want to spend the time and money to do this to a 300E/E320 sedan. If you have any other specific questions I have not answered... please feel free to P.M. me

Whats up Brian. Sounds like the project is almost near completion & I still haven't had time to drop by the shop. I have to make an effort to come down this coming weekend. Also I have a '92 & '94 400E & E420 complete cars sitting at home. One is the yellow one & the 94 is the project car that I going to build once the wide body is complete on the yellow one. I've decided not to use the m119 engins in my next project car, so i'm thinking of getting rid of both drive-trains complete with ecu, tranny, & wireing harnes if you'd know of anyone that might be interested. I haven't really had the time (or put the effort) in trying to sell it, but just though you might know someone? let me know.
The kit I got was a 1.5 drop in the front, and 1.3 in the rear. Used the tallest pads at the top of the springs as well.
As far as the intake air, I simply installed the 'buckets' behind the headlamps from the 400, and the scoops snap right in. Just like the stock 400E.
I understand that the scoops fit the US spec head lamps and they snap right into place! I got Euro Spec lights that don't have the chanels that you can hook up your intake scoops, plus the euro spec lights don't have the gap around the main light so there is no cold air sucked in the engine through the headlight assembly!
