Can you replace the self-leveling suspension with a regular suspension
I was wondering if for some reason the SLS fails and would cost an arm in the leg, would it be possible to take the oil shocks and swap them with regular gas shocks?
RE: Can you replace the self-leveling suspension with a regular suspension
The swap can be done..you'll need new springs as well for the rear. You'll also want to pull the pump and add the block of plate to cove the big hole in your engine;-)
If you are worried about the system holding up I'd recomend flushing the fluid every 2 years as well as cleaning the screen. In my cars I like to add the 123 SLS paper filter along w/ the screen, it's not a perfect fit but it at least Helps keep the fluid clean. I change the filter once a year.

I know nothin about the sls system. Where is the filter and how do you change the fluid? The reason I am asking is, I don't feel that the car handles that great on the highway. I feel the rear end kinda sways from side to side and find myself always correcting with the steering. The rear end is completely leveled but I don't think I have good enough damping.

Sounds like your accumulators are shot. The rear end of that car should feel Planted.. You should also have the 5 link suspension bushings/arms checked. How many miles on that car?
Easiest way to flush the system is undo the return line on top of the resevoir, attach a hose/catch can to it. Run the car till the level gets very low..start adding new fluid. You're done when the fluid out of the return is clear.
To clean the screen/install a filter unscrew the SLS resevoir cap, pull all the stuff out.. You'll see the screen, remove that give it a clean. Pick up a 123 SLS filter and drop that inside the screen.
