I have a '92 300 CE. Somtimes I'll get in and the indicator lamp for "bulb out" will come on. The most recent time it happened, the 3rd brake light was actually out, but then after stopping the car and restarting it, the brake light came back on, and the warning light went off. Could this be a relay problem? Should I be concerned?

Have you tried swapping the third brake light bulb?

It could easily be a simple problem like a corroded socket, questioning a relay is putting the cart before the horse. Start at the problem (bulb) and work backwards from there (socket, wiring, switches etc.) It doesn't sound like anything to be too concerned about, easy DIY. If you need any help, let us know.

Yea these cars will last a million miles but what with terrorists, natural disasters and the H5N1 avian flu pandemic... God help us there's anyone left here to drive them.
thanks for the help, guys. Naturally the problem has stopped... so I'll switch out the light and make sure there's no debris or anything in the socket, and I'll see what happens. I appreciate the replies.
