I have a 95 e320. Whenever I push the button to close the sunroof (as in bring it foward), it takes forever. Sometimes it seems as though it stalls and just doesn't pull through. I think it might be the motor, or some kind of mechanical function, because it obviously works, it's just the speed I guess. Help!!!
you may need the track replaced. its make of plastic if i recall. or you may need to grease the cable. i believe you have to pull your headliner for that.
I Have a 1987 300D and the sunroof completely died last night, the motor seems to work but it seems completely jammed, cant get it all the way closed and its raining. Any ideas anybody has would be a great help. even if I could just get it closed for now that would be enough.
see if you can manually close it using the sparkplug cum tire wrench. In the trunk on the left side just behind the hinge is a slot where you insert the wrench and manually turn it to close the sunroof.
Turn the nut clockwise to close the sunroof.
But that backup is there only to address electrical failure. If the panel is jammed or the cable drive is the problem you're in trouble.
While pushing the switch forward with one hand, find a place to 'grip' the sunroof on the bottom, and see if you can help it forward.
This is SOP for mine, now, I noticed it sticking, lubed, it still stuck, so I just help it, and it been fine for months. I do use it only on nice days, so it's been open only a few times this month.
can anybody put their finger on a tutorial for sunroof lube? Just lubing the rails isn't cutting it for me. I guess I need to get to the cable. My W124 and one of my W123's are very stubborn.
Well thanks for the advise guys, I now can open and close the roof, but it still seems out of allignment, when the panel raises up into the roof it only raises on the left side, so the backside right is still sunk down. Is there an adjustment anywhere to reallign it??
Just to the left i believe of the manual closer in the trunk is an adjustment nut for the problem your describeing.. If your still on this issue let me know ill send details..
i have a problem with mine where it will tilt up, but wont come back down. and then all the sudden i will try it an hour, a day, or 2 days later and magically it comes back down. and i recently found the manual lower and i lowered it and then opened it a little using it. and the motor would not slide it back but it would go forward and then tilt up and get stuck again.
The adjuster nut in the trunk is for the motor clutch,, not for side to side adjustment... you may have a lifter linkage problem.
