1989 300e - Fan Clutch HELP!!! - Benzworld.org

I have a 1989 300e and I am attempting to replace the fan clutch. I have the new one ready to install, but I cannot figure out how to lock the water pump so that I can remove the old fan clutch.

HELP!!!

Do I need a special tool? or is there another way to lock the pump?

Also, the hex bolt in the center of the clutch - is it the normal lefty-loosy, rightsy-tightsy? or is it the other way around?

Benz owner/lover in need!!!

well, havent done eny repairs on that one meself, but lefty-loosy, rightsy-tightsy yes [:)]

There is a special tool that has to be placed in the center of the fan clutch. Otherwise, it will keep spinning if you try and loosen it.

Do you know where one might acquire said special tool? Is it available online? Is is a common tool that I could find locally (Utah)?
