Door Strap? Where can I find one? - Benzworld.org

The strap on my 90' 300TE has either broken or something. It makes a loud "POW" when the door is opened, and at normal door stop points. I don't know what is wrong, but I do know I need to get a replacement. I have the book on door disassembly/reassembly, but need to learn where I can pick up another door strap.

Any of the usual parts places. Cost should only be about $20 even at a dealer. Click in German Star above. I'm sure he can help you with the part.

Agreed, just go to the dealer and buy one quick. I had one lock up on me after only making that noise for a week or so. My poor wife had to drive home from the supermarket with the passenger door locked open ! Can you imagine all the shouting and pointing as she drove by ? Get it fixed before this happens to you.

You can shut the door when it freezes. It just feels really bad almost like you are bending something. But it shuts. Ask me how I know.
