We have only our 1992 400E for about three weeks and it has 155k miles on it. The car was maintained to an extreme that at first made me think it might be a lemon,(over $8,300.00 in documented repairs from Euro-Spec)however the mechanic at Euro-Spec in Fletcher, NC who serviced it for the last five years tells me the previous owner was very stringent about service.
Twice now we have had what I think is transmission slipping. But then the problem seems to go away and the car acts completely normal. When I called Bill at Euro-Spec yesterday he told me that a button in the floor under the top part of the acceleratot is probably sticking. I found this button and it seems very stiff. I drove the car very hard and experienced no slipping or anything wrong, except I had no idea how fast this thing would go when punched. All gear changes were flawless under full accelertion but I of course keep going to the change to fourth as I value my driver's license. And gettint to such speeds that quickly scared the crap out of me. Can an automatic transmission fix itself?
Sorry this is so long but I hope some one can give me an idea of what may be wrong with her. I thought that if the automatic tranny was broken, it stayed that way.
HELP!
