Leaking Oil from Oil Filler Cap

My 1990 300TE has been leaking about a quart of motor oil from around the oil filler cap for the past 15k miles. I've tried ring sealers, etc. in a can to try to slow/stop the waste. Not the cap; tried 3 separate ones, even an aftermarket "no leak" guaranteed cap. I'm keeping the valve cover bolts lubricated too well. HELP!!!

Hi Paul.

Try opening the cap while the engine is running. See if it stays on the lid, or if it vibrates a lot. Worst case is if it flies up.

If in doubt, put your fingers over the hole to feel if pressure is there. If there's pressure, that will most likely be your culprit.
