lug nut help

Changing the origional 1988 wheels on my 260E to 1990 wheels from a 300TE and the lug nuts are not long enough/unthreaded shank extends past the new wheel.$8 each from dealer? What size should I be looking for? Have seen some options on Ebay and I need 20.

RE: lug nut help

You can get them from a after market supplier for under 2$ per bolt. I had the same problem ,I was told they should screw in at least equal to the width of the bolt (1/2inch bolt 1/2 inch in). Don't get them to long or they hit the e-brake on the rear. Good Luck.

RE: lug nut help

The lug bolts I need have an extension, the ballseat is about 1" from the threaded end and the bolt is another 1" above that. Where do i find them at a reasonable price?

RE: lug nut help

try a recycler or any of hte online retailers.

the newer wheels were wider and of lower quality. earlier wheels were forged but more prone to the paint peeling off. later were cast (i think) and less susceptible to paint peeling.
