A mild, burned plastic smell came from the center vents of my 1993 400E, though the system still worked. Now, a week later, the AC no longer works. The fan does work but the compressor clutch is not engaging the compressor. Ideas?
Sounds like a failed compressor. Take it to an A/C specialist shop for proper diagnosis. A/C can be tricky to diagnose sometimes for the do it yourselfer.
