I have an E300D 24valve estate and it has just started to give the following problem. It starts fine and runs well but when it reaches about 78-80 degrees on the temperature gauge it loses power and almost dies. By taking it off load I can usually keep it running and it soon clears itself and runs fine again. I suspect there may be some king of sensor which is activated at this temperature which is failing or has failed. Any diesel experts any ideas/suggestions

This sounds like a fuel problem. I would change both of the filters and see what happens. You could also have a scan done at most local auto parts stores. They will be able to give you a code that can be translated for you...
