RE: 1994 E320...Good car?

These are good cars but you should budget for a new wiring loom on the engine and head gasket before very long or check that the seller has had these replaced.
They are expensive at a service agent but if the car is in good condition it is worth the expense .

There is nothing else that really goes wrong .

This forum has loads of information on both these repairs . Some readers have done the work themselves .

RE: 1994 E320...Good car?

Ditto. You can use this information as a bargaining tool. The head gasket can cost $1200 to $2000 to replace, the engine wiring harness about $800 to $1000, dealer cost. Changing the engine wiring harness is a must for preventine measures even if the car runs okay.

Once these items are addressed, you've got yourself a solid car.

RE: 1994 E320...Good car?

I should hope so. I've just purchased an E320 cabriolet sportline.

The vendor has just had the car serviced which included a head gasket replacement at a cost of £816.43 or roughly, USD1,500.

The engine wiring harness was okay but as I've got a 12 warranty on the vehicle, I'll make sure that it is a good one.

The W124 300CE/E320 coupe/cabriolet chassis number engine number 1994/95 is 124.052/104.992

The W124 300CE/E320 coupe/cabriolet chassis number engine number 1993/95 is 124.066 104.992

The cars are strong enough to take a 5 litre V8.

Enjoy the car
