can a old merc such as the w124 e200 year 1992, be AMG tuned? is there any other way to increase its power??
I think that the w124 models are a bit heavier then the new e200's.
Have you guys heard of Hyper Voltage Systems? or additional grounding?
Any comments on increasing the power of a w124 to be a kick ass car? I remember there was a Mercedes Cosworth once (that was good, just like the Ford Sierra Cosworth)
Best way to increase the power in an E200 is to sell it and buy an E500. (or even a 320)

Nope, the W124s are lighter.

If there was a simple way of getting more power for no money Mercedes would have 'stumbled' across it when they spent millions developing it. Don't be taken in by anything on e-bay that promises increased bhp for very little money.

Indeed there was. Cosworth assisted Mercedes with the 190E 2.5ltr 16V engine (195bhp). It might be possible to fit this in your car but it would probably cost more than the difference between an E200 and an E320 (which has 217bhp). Also, breakers yards aren't awash with these engines!
hmm... thanks for the comments. but to dump my car and get a e300 or bigger would not be feasible for me (currently).
I have been driving this for about 3 years now and just want to make it really stand out. Whether its a wolf in a sheeps clothing or whether it just looks damn fierce. (of course i would prefer if it could realy "fly" haha)
sorry, just have some more questions. what are the changes/differences between a normal w124 and a w124 tuned by amg (if "tuned" is the right term to use)
AMG sold the E36 AMG( straight six 272 BHP) and also an E60 AMG ( v8 with 381 BHP).
My E36 ( 1995)is a 3606 cc engine ( M104 ). It has a re mapped ECU, uprated pistons and cams, AMG suspension, S600 front brakes, E500 rear brakes, 225 /45 tyres on 17inch rims.It has the advantage of being right hand drive as well for UK.
If I were looking for a budget W124 with excellent performance I would look for an E320 with sportline suspension. These are great cars and very cheap . Just make sure you get it inspected as you need to be careful of head gaskets and wiring looms .I have had both replaced about a year ago !

How much would you have to pay to get your hands on a E36 AMG engine anyways? sounds like a sweet engine. What kind of injection does it have by the way? I hope it doesnt have that old mechanical kind that 300 etc has...
It would be extremely difficult to find a wrecked C36,
Here in CA, USA it is hard enough to find C36's with owners that are willing to part with them. If and when you do find one, you should prepare to pay a pretty penny. The C36 engine is a bored and stroked M104 which uses the Bosch LH injection (hot wire air mass sensor) Transmission is the same MBZ 5 speed auto used on the W210 E class. I personally would take a MBZ M119 V8 any day over the six in any tune.
