Parting with my W124

I've contemplated of keeping or selling. I made up my mind an hour ago to sell my W124. Nothing is wrong with it, just not good with gas mileage. :-(

1989 300E 3.0L
Burgundy with tan interior 208+ original miles. 13 years of records with Owners Manual and W124 Bible to go with it.

Too many to list as far as what has been done in the car for the past years. Latest upgrade/fix in the past 3 months:

Heater Hose
Front flexi disc
Heat Hood pad
Oil and filter change (12/6/04)

Other than that, the car is in excellent condition.

Anyway if any of you live in MD/DC/VA area let me know if you are interested.

Some of you might already have seen it. The car will be sold with original wheels not the one shown in the picture

Email me if you are interested.

RE: Parting with my W124

What do you plan on getting after you sell the W124?

How bad is your gas mileage. My 300E used to give me about 15-17 mpg (city), with my lead foot. Now my Chevy Monte Carlo SS gives me 13-14 city with my lead foot.

Bad gas mileage could be:
Air filter
Dirty Throttle plate
Dirty injectors
Bad air/fuel mixture

or something more simple such as new vacuum lines, and vacuum rubber.

RE: Parting with my W124

Mileage shouldn't be too big of concern, but if you really feel it's bad. Then it's your choice.

Mike, you're milaeage stinks, and so does your overly huge avatar, try to fix that.

RE: Parting with my W124

That is exactly what I'm getting.. 15-17 not really good for everyday car... My 190E gets a little better. I'll sell it if I get a good offer. If not I'll just keep it in the garage and drive it once a week.

RE: Parting with my W124

15-17 is pretty lousy, I average about 19-20 in the city and 25+ on the highway.

RE: Parting with my W124

A properly maintained M103 SHOULD return at least 19 to 20mpg in the city. I have 212k on the clock and still see 25-26 mpg highway. It has a lot to do with running gear.

I have a 03 C230WZ and 190E... I'm thinking of getting an Audi TT or SLK230 Sport.

They are 15" x 6.5" I think. It's the OEM wheels.
