W124 Spare Tire Rim

My 1987 300TD has the chrome 15-hole "Light Alloy" rims. I intpected the spare tire the other day, and noticed it has the silver painted 15-hole rim. Is that correct for a spare tire? Are they not usually stamped steel, or some such thing?

Is there a "correct" rim for the spare tire?

RE: W124 Spare Tire Rim

our benzes came with 5 wheels that were the same. todays benzes may or may not come with a similar spare especially C class models. most E and S class still have a full size same wheel spare.
