RE: in what years did the 601.xxx engines come in the w124 chassis to the us?

afaik the 601 never came to the states in the 124

it came in the 201 190d and 190d 2.2. there was no 200d officially imported to this country. if you have come across one it might have been imported by an expatriate emigrating back here or it might have come through canada.

only the 602 (2.5 liter 5 cylinder) and 603 (6cylinder) were used in the 124 here. although i believe the actual engine designation of the 1995 300D was OM604 (twin cam turbo)

RE: correction re: OM604 reference

FWIW, correction to previous post: the 6-cylinder non-turbo diesel in the MY1995USA E300D is the OM606.910. (I believe this basic OM606 was then carried over into the new W210 non-turbo diesel for MY1996USA.)

E300,

Why do you believe the 95 E300D is a superior diesel to the 603's and 617's?

Thanks
