when someone replaces the original equipment for non original equipment...

when someone replaces the original equipment for non original equipment... does the price of the vehicle go down or up. i assume down.for example if they replace the becker radio for a pioneer or the avantgarde rims for other non mercedes rims...etc. does this mean the book value goes down or up.and why

the car has to be 15yrs old to become a classic and 25yrs for vintage, most modern cars today wont achieve what the old ones do and will loose more in value

Assuming we're not talking about fastidious "concours" type enthusiasts, aftermarket/non-oem parts can increase or decrease the value of the vehicle, it will depend on what the part is. What is certain, is that such parts, bodykits, wheels, audio/visual systems, unless extremely rare or valuable in their own right, will not increase the car's value in an equal amount of their cost. For instance, putting new mega expensive Brabus rims on an old Mercedes would increase it's worth, but only for resale of the wheels.

I think it depends on the parts being changed out for aftermarket ones. Some people like to see the original glass in their car. Body parts, interior panels, engine parts that are O.E.M. will give you a better selling point than standard replacement parts that are made in taiwan. I don't think that too many people looking at a used car look at it negatively if you updated from an old casette deck to a newer CD player with upgraded speakers. I guess it all depends on the part that is replaced.

depends on the person who is interesed of buing the car, if he like stock parts then any changes will decrease the car value, but if he is young and restless like me he would apreciate any modification made to the car: body kit, rims, sport suspension, major engine modifications, heavy duty hifi, sport seats, strange painting of the body.
