I recently posted about the intake valves but in general I just want to increase my horsepower. my E420 has 275 hp and i want to get it over that 300 mark. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I can do? I am kind of on a tight budget but I will see. Also if you have used the remus exhaust pipe, did you like it?
Your Benz is tuned about as good as it'll get Naturally Aspirated from the factory. Unless you're willing to shell out some major major money for something to force some boost into that engine, the power you have is the power you got.
Keep the car tuned up well, good spark plugs, healthy wires, good fuel and fuel system, nice clean air filter. You can go for the Remus, but from all I've heard it's mostly a cosmetic change, you might, and I stress MIGHT, pick up a couple horsepower, but nothing huge.
275Hp is a good amount of ponies for the car, if you want more horsepower, either be prepared to shell out some major dough, or buy a different car.

Remus will release about 3BHP max,... but the damn thing will sound alot faster, and that counts for something.
I have remus on one of my Golfs and on my 190, they just sound soooo right.
Try a panel filter, 4 tip plugs, larger bore exhaust to start with. Later polish your intake manifold,... from the inside, and change out your final drive ratio.
Speaking from experience all of this will give you about 10-15BHP increase. Best is to go for a Supercharger. You'll be laughing for hours on end since there is alot of bang for your buck. Or you could just change your car and go for a W210.
If you have two grand to spend, Berkwerks is testing a nitrous oxide kit for the M117 variants (420 motor). Probably punch it up to about 375hp with nominal engine wear if properly installed and used.
you should also check into having your computer ECM chip upgraded. Normally the manufacturer purposely sets the computer to not deliver max hp because all different types of people are going to drive the car and they want to appeal to a happy medium. Upgrading the ECM chip is one of the ways that shops like AMG and Brabus get some of their extra hp.
Storm...what type of supercharger would you recommend for the 300E (I have a 1989) and as far as the remus exhaust is concerned how does it sound so right...does it make for a deep low rumble or does it have sort of a honda sound to it?
