i have some problem on my AC any help???????

PLSSS HELP ME WITH MY PROBLEM
I HAVE CAR MERCEDES 200 CE MODEL 1994

MY PROBLEM IS MY I OPEN SWITCH TO AC THE AIR JUST COME FOR UP IDONT WHY ????????

and some time is normal is come from side to driver or passanger side

can u tell me why allthe time come the air from up and what i do to make everything normal.

kptc, are you trying to tell us the a/c is only blowing from the defrost (windshield) or only blowing from the center dash vents?

it just blowing from the defrost (windshield) and never blowing from the center dash vents

Unless somebody else chimes in with better information, I'd say the problem may be with the vacuum system. When the system isn't working properly - or has no vaccum - the settings default to defrost, the safest setting for driver visibility. Try tracing the vacuum circuit from engine to dashboard.

Which reminds me... When the fan switch is completely off (at the 6:00 position) I hear a hissing sound coming from the center console. But it disappears when I set the switch to the 7:30 position (one click away from speed 1. Does that indicate any sort of problem? If yes, what can I do about it?
