ignition module

My car keeps hesitating, usually when it tries to down shift. Sometimes the ASR 'pilot light' goes on. THe benz dealership said that the it tripped a code that is for the ignition module, which is screwing up the timing. THey want $2200 USD to fix it. Has anyone else had this problem and does it sound worth it to fix it (i cant imagine having bad timing is good for the car...)?

RE: ignition module

My car had the same problem. It started out as barely noticeable and then within the span of about 36hrs it got so bad that the car would just stall out. I took my car to the dealer and they ended up replacing the ignition coils, spark plug wires, mass airflow sensor, and I got an oil change while it was there. All told the bill came to about $950. They said that the wiring harness was a major culprit, too. But rather than replace the entire thing they just repaired the section that was causing the most trouble. I do intend to have the wiring harness replaced in the future, although I'm not looking forward tot he $1200 it'll cost me.

RE: ignition module

$2.200 heheheheheh i just cant believe that the amp is aprox £15.00 uk last time i baught one, also consider the high tention leads/plug leads the could be arcing causing the car to stall at low revs

RE: ignition module

After 12 hrs of careful search, the came to the conclusion that I need a new knock sensor, a climate control module and a temperature senor. The climate control module was the one that was the most expensive, and was said to have a short. When all was said and done, parts came to about $750ish, and with the 12 hours they spent diagnosing, it came to a total of $1885 plus tax. That's some serious cash...
