I'd like to know what would you recommend, and what tires you have on your cars. The car will mostly be driven in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where temperatures soar way beyond 40 C. There may be a road trip back home to Jordan late this year.
Any advice is appreciated [:)]
I do not have knoledge about the brands available there but if you go with Michelin, Dunlop or Continental you can't go wrong. As far as the size I am using the OEM standard 195 or 205 beacause a wider tire increase the gas milage...but I gues in your part of the world gas prices are not an issue.
I also take it that the roads are nice over there, go for lower-profile tires ;)
I'd say stick with 205/65/15 for maximum ride comfort or go with 205/60/15 "Sportline Size for the 124"
I have 215/45/17s and they are pretty tiny tires. Next time 215/50/17s are going on the car or 225/45/17s.
The tires I have are Michelin Pilot Sports and they are really quiet... but the 45-profile tires are hard!
Oh Holson! If you only knew!
Ironicly, the roads over here, and especially the streets of Jeddah, are among the lousiest I've ever seen! Besides, gas prices are not that cheap anymore. They hiked the prices recently!
Michelin, Dunlop and Continental all have their dealers over here, but for some reason their offerings are very limited - three or four models at best - and only in certain sizes! Dealers of Asian-made tires tend to offer much wider choices.
Luke at TireRack just recommended yokohama avid H4s for my car. It's a new tire. All season so I'm not sure it's for you, but he told me the continental tire recommended by my indie was junk and the best thing he could say about it was "it's black and holds air." I will let you know how they are.
It is true ..the Continental tires at Tirerack are a piece of junk. I recently returned a set of 4 that the tire shop find it imposible to ballance them.By the way the tires were made in Mexico not in Germany like the new Mercedes or BMW you buy from the dealer.

I actually had the Yoko H4S on my shopping list, but when I asked the dealer's, they told me that they didn't have the 15-inch size in stock, so I had to write it off.
I'm inclined toward the Toyo Proxes TPT. Friends who have used it over here were very pleased with it, and ALL of them bought new sets again for their cars!
yokohama tyres tend to be fairly soft compound, so i wouldnt recommend for a heavy car like a merc... toyos are very good quality tyres; havent tried them on my merc yet, but have used them for many years on my weekend rollerskate!
