5 speed auto problem

my car is a 300ce-24 with the 5 speed auto (NOTE:no econ/sport mode on this model).the problem is it shifts from 3rd to 5th, completely by-passing 4th.The benz service center has diagnosed this to having a faulty computer module. This was replaced and all worked for about two hours of me having the car back and the same problem returned. Then it was said to be solenoid valve so we replaced that and all worked for about two weeks and then the same problem returned.Once it goes it does not return till i take it back where they de-code the computer and by doing this on several occasions, it has worked for varying amount of times of one week up to three weeks. They are baffled by this problem and it proves that the computer module and the solenoid valve were probably not the problem in the first place. But this can not go on,it's driving me nuts.I have not asked for my money back yet, just for them to fix this once and for all at no further cost to me.All they can come up with now is that it's probably some faulty wiring connection somewere, but as you know, this would be a daunting task of resoldering a hell of alot of wires and just were do you start? Does anyone know what is happening here, because they seem to be at a complete loss.I,m so frustrated. Can anyone enlighten me with some information i can take to them.It will be most appreciated. Thanks.

RE: 5 speed auto problem

just had a new valve body installed and so far, it seems to have fixed the problem. However, since i have had the car back,i have detected a new problem which certainly was not their before. On a very light throttle, the change from 2nd-3rd produces a slight hesitation, accomanied by a slight rise in revs. All other gear changes are smooth and normal, and on a heavier throttle,2nd-3rd is smooth and normal as are the other gears. Can someone please tell me what this is likely to be,is it an adjustment issue? because as far as i know, all they did was put a new valve body in,and this problem was certainly not their before.
