I am experiencing a problem with my W124 (Sedan 230E, 08/86). Since last weekend I cannot turn the key in the lock of the trunk.
The lock is in the horizontal (presumably counter clockwise) position, the "square" key enters the lock without any problem, it just would not turn.
(making things worse, the lock appears to be in the position, that even using the door locks does not open the trunk).
For the last week, I have tried to soak the lock with "Caramba" oil, but there has been no reaction so far.
Is there any "trick" how to open the trunk using the pneumatic system?? Or is the only hope that I have to drill it open?
check to see if you have a valet key that you are useing, they are cut so you can start the car and not open the trunk or glove box. the switch position for opening is picture the face where the key goes in a clock, the key position should be at 11:00 and 5:00 and then push in. when it opens disconnect the vaccum acuator for the trunk lock. and there is a shut off valve for the central lock turn to "auf"off and it will not lock W central lock.also check top see if the pass doors are unlocked fully because the doors lock and then the trunk. good luck
