Can someone please tell me the fuel capacity (in US gallons) of my 300TE. I have ordered an owner's manual but the dealer cannot tell me when one might be available. gracias.
I have an 88 300TE and if memory serves me correctly, the tank is supposed to hold around 75 Liters. This translates to 19.8 US Gal.
Try as I might, I have never got more than about 65 Liters (17.2 US Gal) into the tank after running waaaay down on the gauge.
The larger problem is the ensuing Panic-Attach from the passenger seat once the little yellow light comes on.
It should be around a 19 to 20 US Gal tank but don't plan on being able to use more than around 17.5.
Has anyone really run it dry....probably not the best for the fuel pump(s) but it would be nice to know where the bottom is...???
mercedes generally have a generous fuel reserve.on my 260E i know the tank is 17 odd gallons or so, but i can never fill it up beyond more than about 14. i had a trip back from phoenix arizona in which i decided to try and be as economic as possible in light of my autobahning on the way to phoenix.
when my fuel light came on i decided to keep on driving. i was doing a sedate 70 or so. i kept on going until i thought that my car was not going on fumes, but the memory of fumes. i stopped, filled her up and only managed to get almost 15 gallons in there. so i had at least another gallon and some still in the tank. i believe you should be able to drive for about 100 miles once that light comes on.
