That explains a lot ;-) I was thinking of stripping mine and getting it ready for paint. It doesn't need much work - it's straight and rust-free. It's got hardly any dings on the bodywork, just a couple of bumper scuffs. Wouldn't need much prep (I'm not good at filling and sanding - takies me ages to get the right result) - just matting and degreasing. Shame I don't have access to a bodyshop that would just let me do all the prep and charge just for painting. I'd be tempted to replace the bonnet with the newer one - like on your car.
I'm about 30 miles from London, Herts/Beds borders and it's not snowing here yet (I'm stuck at home with flu so I'm getting really frustrated).
So what business are you in now?

I retired for a while & I'm now a hypnotherapist Still work on friends cars in my spare time though, just can't seem to leave the trade totally I'm currently putting together my '69 Camaro Z/28 for historic circuit racing (hence the user name). If you need your Merc painting in a few months time (it'll take me that long to finish the Camaro), give me a shout & I'll try to help out

Thanks for the compliment, it was quite a straight forward install & I could reproduce it for others if they wanted.

Sorry the pic isn't too sharp, I used my phone camera. The 2 long Germans in my life. Abby, the four legged one, loves the wagon as much as I do. Its been a long slow recovery for the Benz, and a bit more to go. Some beautiful wagons posted here, I hope everyone enjoys their ride as much as I do mine!

Can you provide some more detail? I've been trying to play with my height adjustment, but can't get it to do much, yet. As per my interpretation of the service manual, I've been sequentially lengthening the rod, but it hasn't dropped the height. So, do I need to shorten it, instead?

TIA
