Where can I find the metal trim that goes around the rear window (windshield). I am about to replace the seal and want backup trim in case I damage it when removing it?
The rubber seal is a part number 123 670 02 39 an is still available. The "sealing frame" as the anodized aluminum trim that is inserted into the seal is called is actually three different pieces - a left, right and bottom. Those part numbers are, respectively 123 678 09 30, 123 678 10 30, and 123 678 03 30. Each one of those pieces appear to be around $150/each if they're still available.
I seem to recall a forum member looking for some of these recently and reporting back that they are no longer available from Mercedes.
And I will say this at the risk of offending some members, but if you use anything but the OE (Mercedes) seal, you're a idiot. There is a reason why the aftermarket supplier's seals are so much cheaper. Think about it....
You should also use the Mercedes brand sealant as well. It'a a part number 001 989 32 20, "Scheibendichtmittel" (window sealing compound).
