... or lack thereof! The light in the gearshift works, the rear window defrost light comes on if I turn the defrost on (the light in the OEM radio even works though the radio doesn't), nothing else comes on, I checked the bulbs behind the heater panel and they are OK and there are no blown fuses. Two questions:
Am I correct that all switches should be internally lit when you turn the lights on?
I would suspect the dimmer switch if not for the gearshift light and a semi functioning rear defrost indication, any other thoughts?
I haven't gotten that far on mine yet but I'll be glad to pass on any info I find. I am assuming you have checked the bulbs? I know silly question but, you do need to start at the beginning
Make a jumper wire from one of the four speedometer mounting screws to that ground group. That will help the dash lights, tach and clock operate consistently.
If the link works to my post, then you can see the schematic Forcedinduction included in the thread. His recommendation didn't help my tach problem, but I'm convinced that's a cracked/bad sensor cable. His recommendation might help your dashlights.
Hi there. I got my service manual out and started to look at the wiring diagram for your car. I don't have the source yet but I do see the shifter light has a different source than the rheostat. Since you are still working with it I'll look at it a little later to find the source for you.
Thanks for the link, I'll have to go through that and see if that would help my lights and tach since that works on and off.
I had not considered the ground :-(; since the car had been sitting in the weeds for a number of years, that may be a good point to start though.
probably should invest in a good manual. Thanks!
